Theoretical Frameworks and Models for Change Essay

Models or frameworks play a significant role in evidence-based practice or research. They offer a basis or foundation on which to build relevant implementation knowledge. The implication is that through the use of models or frameworks, a researcher has appropriate information on how to treat or approach a research problem (Grove & Gray, 2018). The need to use evidence-based practice in patient care in recent times has prompted the need to enhance its use. Therefore, models or frameworks also help researchers to integrate dependable research evidence into practice which helps in maximizing the available resources for better patient care. In addition, the theoretical underpinnings which form the models or frameworks are used in supporting step-by-step research and implementation of evidence into practice (Grove & Gray, 2018). It is worth noting that the use of models or frameworks enables the nurse to appropriately use evidence-based practice by following the theoretical underpinnings to ensure that the evidence is implemented best.

Even though models and frameworks are important in research, they can lead to research bias in some cases. One of such cases is when an incorrect framework is used. There are various frameworks that are applied to guide research; however, the choice of the correct framework is accomplished by considering the nature of the research and objectives (LoBiondo-Wood & Haber, 2021). However, if an incorrect framework is chosen, bias can result; for example, sampling or testing can be done that encourages an answer or outcome over other answers and outcomes. This error can come in data analysis, data collection, and study design. In most cases during research, the difference in outcomes in similar groups is measured; therefore, a framework should avoid introducing other variations as much as possible (LoBiondo-Wood & Haber, 2021). An incorrect framework can also lead to measurement error, selection bias, and confounding biases hence putting to question the validity of such research findings and interpretations.
