The Clifton StrengthsFinder assessment tool is a valuable tool that can help an individual to identify personal strengths. The output obtained from the assessment can be key in improving a person’s academic self-conference, engagement, and motivation (Busch& Davis, 2018). Upon completing the StrengthsFinder assessment instrument, my top five themes turned out to be achiever, strategic, responsibility, includer, and focus (Gallup, 2021). These results largely agree with what I thought, even though there are other themes like conflict resolution, which I hoped would be part of the themes. I have always aspired to take a leadership position which usually triggers an urge to set goals and strive to achieve them.

Based on the results of the StrengthsFinder assessment, two core values that I would like to strengthen are confidence and determination. Even though I have been focusing on goal setting and achieving the same, I feel I need more confidence in connecting with other people, showing what I know, and focusing on achieving more goals faster. Determination will help me focus more and be more responsible as leadership requires that a person assume responsibility for various issues (Lumpkin & Achen, 2018). In addition, two of the strengths that I would like to continue working on and making stronger are includer and focus. I believe in inclusion, and so if goals are to be achieved in a workplace, then individuals need to feel included, which brings a sense of value and belonging. My goal-setting nature requires that the aspect of focus remains impeccable as I will be able to clarify to every team member the performance objectives so that as individuals and in groups, the objectives can be achieved within the required time.

According to the results obtained, two of the characteristics that I would love to strengthen are inspiration and communication. Being an achiever and strategic means that I should inspire those around me and that I lead. This can only happen if I can lead by example, be open to communication, and actively engage everyone. I believe that the five themes truly reflect my strengths; therefore, working to sharpen them now and in the future will only make me a better leader.

How can you evaluate your own leadership skills and behaviors? You can start by analyzing your performance in specific areas of leadership. In this Discussion, you will complete Gallup’s StrengthsFinder assessment. This assessment will identify your personal strengths, which have been shown to improve motivation, engagement, and academic self-conference. Through this assessment, you will discover your top five themes—which you can reflect upon and use to leverage your talents for optimal success and examine how the results relate to your leadership traits.

Complete the StrengthsFinder assessment instrument, per the instructions found in this Module’s Learning Resources.
