The most important thing to remember is that stress is not always bad. In fact, a moderate level of stress can actually be beneficial, providing the necessary “kick” to motivate us to achieve our goals. However, when stress becomes overwhelming or prolonged, it can have negative consequences on our physical and mental health. There are many ways to reduce the amount of stress in one’s life. One of the most importantthing to do is to make time for yourself each day to relax and rejuvenate. One can also try different relaxation techniques such as yoga, meditation, or deep breathing exercises (Mendez et al., 2020). It is also important to get enough sleep and eat a healthy diet full of fruits and vegetables. And finally, there is the need to exercise regularly to reduce depression and the levels of stress.

From the readings, assessment of stress levels should involve consideration of different factors in an individual’s life. First, it is important to assess what is causing the person’s stress levels. There can be many different causes ranging from work-related stress to family issues to financial problems.Once the source of the stress is identified, various methods can be used to help reduce it. This include counseling or therapy, relaxation techniques such as yoga or meditation, exercise, and changes in diet. While deciding on the approaches that can be applied to reduce stress levels, it is necessary to find what works best for each individual, and there is no one-size-fits-all approach (Elbay et al., 2020). What might work for one person may not work for another, so it is important to experiment until the right combination is found.

From the assigned readings, I learned that one way to assess and reduce my stress levels is by completing the Holmes and Rahe Stress Inventory (Sutrisno et al., 2020). The inventory measures the amount of stress in one’s life related to certain life events, such as marriage, death of a spouse, or losing a job. With this tool, an individual can rank how much each event has affected them on a scale from 1 (low stress) to 4 (high stress). The total score is the number of points assigned to all the events combined.

One of the main things that attracted my attention regarding my current situation depression. This condition has significantly impacted my duties including job performance. Increased state of isolation is another factor that has greatly attracted my attention regarding my current situation (Starczewska et al., 2020). The feeling of rejection and the inability to interact with others in social places is the third factor that informed my curiosity toward my current state. From the information received in this week’s reading, I plan to seek Counseling services and to incorporate Holmes and Rahe Stress Inventory to constantly reduce my stress levels.

High levels of stress often lead to the production of cortisol, a hormone that has significant negative consequences in the body. Cortisol is produced by the adrenal gland in response to physical or emotional stress. It plays a role in mobilizing energy stores to help us deal with stressful situations. However, when cortisol is chronically high due to ongoing stress, it can have harmful effects on the body.
