One of the NI competencies is the ability to use information technologies to interpret and organize data to provide information that influences nursing practice (Abdekhoda, 2019). For example, using algorithmic technologies such as AI and machine learning, nurses can organize and interpret information generated from such programs to develop insights that improve practice. For instance, such programs can reveal information on patients more exposed to the risk of hospital-acquired infections. The information is useful for monitoring and early intervention to reduce the risks. The competence relates to the role of APNs of the application of technology for information management to enhance patient care (Abdekhoda, 2019).
