Effect of the Implementation of Merit-Based Incentives on Daily Operations

MIPS is a popular payment scheme in healthcare that has been connected to consistent improvement and reduction of healthcare costs. The US government proposed this system after carrying out different tests and studies on the positive effect of Mason health care (Kauffman et al., 2020). The system has increased healthcare transparency by streamlining main health payment options that do not require the patient to spend more on their health care services. At Vila health, the reduction in the cost of health care has been significant where patients have a sure system that counts for the value of the services provided.

Meeting MIPS measures would aim to increase the quality-of-service delivery and the application of technology in making health care services available to many patients. In nursing, quality service delivery is the best way that an organization can be a user of gaining a competitive advantage in its environment (Berdahl et al., 2021). Each patient would want to have quality health care that would id them in recovering from their problems. The programs offer the best avenue of increasing quality and meeting the required health care standards in the US.

Implementation of EHRs and MIPS would also aim to increase the number of patients coming for health care services in the clinic. This stems from the increased level of efficiency that would allow the increased speed of services and would entice many clients. The high number of clients served at the clinic would translate to increased sales of services that increase the proceeds of the health care organization. This would allow the clinic to attain a financial stability state (Byrd & Chung, 2021). A financially stable condition would allow the clinic to adopt an inclining trend of development geared towards offering quality health care delivery to all people.

Attaining MIPS measures has enriched the management with skills of making decisions towards creating effective change in an organization. For instance, a change that would improve the quality and safety of patients would be first in my list of proprieties because that is the main objective of health care delivery. The wellbeing of the patients should be beclouding all decisions towards changes in the health care clinic. In essence, a practice aiming at minimizing errors in health care would be worth taking because it would increase the safety of the patient and increase quality. EBP has thus acted as the main source of learning how to conduct changes in nursing.

Impact of Failing to Meet Measures of Merit-Based Incentives

Failing to meet MIPS measures has a negative impact on the operations of the hospitals as it does not adhere to the provided legal framework by the government. The federal government ratifies the use of this program to find a single score for the value offered by providers (Byrd & Chung, 2021). Therefore, the failure would imply that the hospital does not adhere to the new quality standard that the government is putting in place to increase the overall quality of health care delivery.

The failure of MIPS reduces the competitive advantage of health care providers. In as much as the health care providers are not profit-oriented, the quality of healthcare is determined by the number of patients visiting the clinic each day (Berdahl et al., 2021). This failure would further imply that the clinic would be struggling with finances because of the low number of patients going for the services at the hospitals.


MIPS has changed the daily operation of Vila health to the better desire few challenges that are currently facing its effective implementation. Reduction of healthcare cost increased patient safety, and efficiency is important that MIPS and EHRs have on Vila health. However, the failure to implement these measures could have had a negative impact on the clinic by lowering quality and competitive advantage at the clinic.
