Evidence-based practice is an essential component of the practice of a BSN-prepared registered nurse. Evidence-based practice entails a BSN-prepared registered nurse utilizing best practice evidence, their experience, and patient values in making decisions on the care approaches to address the identified concerns. BSN-prepared nurses should continually explore how to integrate evidence into their practice. One of the ways I will achieve this is by constantly identifying best practice recommendations that can be applied in addressing diverse care needs. I will explore the most recent evidence about different interventions in nursing, critique evidence, and apply it in the patient care process (Ellis, 2019). I will also develop proposals for improving the existing organizational practices utilized in the provision of patient care.

The second way I will continue to integrate evidence into my practice and work environment is by guiding other nurses on the implementation of evidence-based practice in nursing. I will mentor junior nurses on how to translate evidence into practice. I will also mentor them in identifying the best sources of evidence, analyzing evidence for credibility, and using it in patient care. I may experience some obstacles in engaging in activities that will contribute to evidence-based practice in my practice and work environment. One of them is resistance to change. Nurses in the practice site may not be willing to engage in activities that would drive excellence in the patient care process. Factors such as lack of knowledge and fear of the unknown outcomes may contribute to their resistance (Camargo et al., 2018). Therefore, I will explore interventions that include their active involvement in exploring the need and implementing change, mentorship, and training them to minimize their resistance to change.
