Evaluation is the last stage in the implementation of evidence-based practice projects. The evaluation aims to determine the effectiveness of the project in achieving its outcomes. The evaluation data inform the strategies that should be incorporated into the change to achieve optimum outcomes. Healthcare providers should collaborate in providing subjective and objective evaluation data. Outcomes that include empowerment and project ownership are achieved when multidisciplinary teams participate in the evaluation process (Schmidt & Brown, 2021). Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to explore the evaluation methods that would be used in the proposed evidence-based practice project.

Expected Outcomes

The expected outcomes of the project will be varied. They will include the adoption of a healthy lifestyle and behavioral interventions by the obese children and their families and the sustainability of the project interventions. Health education is expected to improve their dietary choices and engage in active physical activity to improve their weight gain. The other expected outcome is the reduction in the bodyweight of obese children by the end of the project. Waist circumference is also expected to reduce, translating into their reduced predisposition to health risks associated with unhealthy weight gain.

Data Collection Tools

Pre and post-interventional questionnaires will be administered to the parents and guardians of the children enrolled in the project. A T-test is a statistical test that would be usedin analyzing the project data. The test enables the determination of the existence of significant differences between the observed means of two related groups or periods. The means of the participants will be compared before and after the project implementation. Through it, an accurate picture of the project implications will be obtained. T-test will also facilitate hypothesis generation from the project. The comparison of the outcomes will serve as the basis of hypothesis development concerning the effectiveness of the project interventions (Kim et al., 2020).

Methods on Data Collection Tool

Questionnaires will be checked for completeness. All the questionnaires with complete data will be used in the analysis process. The data will then be organized for coding. The coded data will be analyzed to acquire insights into the implications of the project interventions. Data analysis will aim at identifying the existence of differences between the baseline and final data obtained following the project intervention.

Strategies If Outcomes Do Not Provide Positive or Expected Results

It is expected that the project will yield positive outcomes. However, some interventions will be adopted if their outcomes are negative. One of the strategies will be the extension of the project deadlines. Extension of the project deadline will allow for strategy revision and incorporation of additional interventions. It will also enable the project stakeholders to re-evaluate the effectiveness of the adopted project interventions. The second strategy will be re-examining the project strategies. The focus will be on identifying the strategies that are contributing to project delays, duplication, and resource wastages. The ineffective strategies will be eliminated to streamline the implementation process. The last strategy will be project termination. Project termination will be considered if the interventions cause harm to the participants. Evidence-based practice interventions should minimize harm and promote optimum patient benefits (Dang et al., 2021).

Project revision will be done if the strategies are found not to be aligned with the project objectives. The proposed solution will be discontinued if found harmful to the participants(LoBiondo-Wood et al., 2021).

Conclusion

Several interventions will be adopted in the evaluation of the proposed project. The aim will be to obtain an accurate picture of the project’s effectiveness. Pre-and post-interventional questionnaires will be used for data collection. T-tests will be performed to determine the means of the data before and after the project implementation. The adopted strategies will depend on project outcomes. Therefore, it is expected that positive outcomes will be obtained in the project implementation.
