EBP Stakeholder Barriers to Implementation Essay

Two potential stakeholder barriers during the implementation phase of evidence-based practice project could be a lack of resources and/or resistance to change. A lack of resources might manifest as a lack of funding or staff time to devote to the new project. Resistance to change might be exhibited by stakeholders who are reluctant to abandon their current practices in favor of something new. Resistance to change is a common barrier to the successful implementation of evidence-based practices. This is because change can be disruptive and challenging for individuals and organizations. Stakeholders who may resist change include physicians, nurses, administrators, and other healthcare professionals (Powell et al., 2017). Strategies to overcome resistance to change include engaging stakeholders in the planning process, providing clear reasons for making changes, and demonstrating the benefits of implementing Evidence-Based Practices.

To gain stakeholder support for the project implementation, there is the need for the project manager to appoint a project champion. This could be someone within your company who is highly respected by stakeholders and has the authority to make decisions on the project. Also, there is the need to conduct a thorough needs assessment and develop a business case that outlines the benefits of the project to stakeholders (Holcomb et al., 2021). Finally, there is the need to hold regular meetings with stakeholders and keep them updated on the progress of the project.

Show genuine interest in their feedback and be responsive to any changes or suggestions they make (Holcomb et al., 2021).
