Nurses act as investigators in their practice. They utilize knowledge and skills in examining issues to develop alternatives and implement the best solutions in the process of patient care. Therefore, as a nurse, I will incorporate the skills for investigating a challenge or a new opportunity in my current role in several ways. First, I will utilize the skills to identify the actual and potential needs of the populations that I serve in the organization. I will use the skills to prioritize the patient’s needs and develop alternatives that should be considered in case management. I will then use the skills of prioritization to determine the most critical solutions to address patients’ actual and potential needs. I will also use the skills for investigating to help my organization to identify and explore opportunities in its markets. For example, I will use the skills to identify current and emerging technologies in healthcare that are needed to enhance patient outcomes (Crawford et al., 2019). As a result, I will use the skills to guide the organization to understand effective and efficient ways of optimizing opportunities for its performance and excellence.
