At the individual level, the CBT approach involves putting emphasis on helping individuals to become their therapists. CBT for family settings also involves restructuring the distorted perceptions and beliefs experienced due to faulty interactions (Stroul et al., 2021). Also, there is always an emphasis placed on the schema or core beliefs in an attempt to assess how to impinge on the behaviors and emotions of the family members can be addressed. CBT in family settings is always based on the tenet that family members are concurrently impacted by each other’s actions or behaviors. In most cases, the behavior of one family member leads to the cognitions, behaviors, and emotions in other members. CBT for the group uses cognitive, behavioral, relational, and group procedures to improve the coping skills of the entire group participants.
