Throughout the course, numerous BSN PSLOs were demonstrated, and I was able to grasp lifetime nursing skills that would affect my nursing carrier. One of the courses was “Synthesize knowledge from the arts and sciences to form a foundation for the practice of professional nursing” (Jayasekara et al., 2018). The accomplished course on arts and science has been of the essence in demonstrating the progress on the achievement of PSLOs. For example, various topics were covered during the course, such as cultural diversity, which has been key to developing my empathy skills in becoming a culturally competent nurse. Leading in nursing requires culturally competent skills because one would be dealing with both nurses and patients from diverse communities.

The completion of the BSN program has been an eye-opener on the important concepts regarding leadership and management in nursing. The need to implement change in nursing requires leadership skills with the ability to rally healthcare professional in the change process. One of the important concepts I have learned in this course as a nurse is the importance of communication and the successful commencement and completion of the required change in nursing. The communication on the urgent need for change and the effect that a proposed change would have on the safety and quality of healthcare would be some of the top issues that a nurse leader would be observing (Arnold & Boggs, 2019). I learned that communication is imperative in clinical reasoning, and it improves patient-nurse relationships. A nurse leader with effective communication skills would coordinate with all nurses. Besides, I have learned that followers like to be led rather than controlled. For a positive/effective leader, followers will have to see the following capability in such a leader: well communicant reliability competency and maintain unit efficiency.

The General Education Competencies were also demonstrated through this program. One of them is the application of cultural competence skills in nurse leadership. I learned that the social attributes of individuals and the community allows a nurse leader to develop an effective model to balance behaviour and emotions of people in health care institutions. The BSN program has been powerful in defining my growth in nursing as it allows me to appreciate the differences between individuals and lead people to achieve the desired goal in health care (Vega & Hayes, 2019). Besides, leading in nursing requires developing a distinct health care culture aiming to mentor other nurses to offer the required quality of health care. This course has helped define my ability to incorporate nurse training skills to develop professionals. The program has trained me on the significance of investing heavily in the skills of nurses as it would affect the required quality change in nursing.

Attaining the BSN essentials is required in nursing, and all nurses need to strive and meet these requirements. One of the selected essentials is Essential II: “Basic Organizational and Systems Leadership for Quality Care and Patient Safety: Knowledge and skills in leadership, quality improvement, and patient.” This essential is linked to learning arts and science courses. For instance, achieving quality care and patient safety emanates from the effective communication platformed development among the nursing professionals. The employees need to expect the proposed change and work towards meeting the newly designed change goals at the institution (Jayasekara et al., 2018). Learning this course has been important in comprehending the need to incorporate nurses’ skills and leadership knowledge as it affects many operations that affect the quality-of-care delivery. This essential also points to the nurse leader’s role in managing professionals and leading nurses to achieve the desired quality in the health care delivery system.
Impact of the Lessons Learned on my Future BNS Nurse
Learning this course will also impact my future role as a BSN nurse by effectively improving my communication and leadership skills in nursing. Therefore, I will become more adept at things that can lead to positive improvement of the nurses and patients.

This activity is meant to demonstrate how you have achieved the Program Student Learning Outcomes, General Education Competencies, and AACNâ€™s Baccalaureate Essentials through all the work you do in each course.
